Malaysia's 1st International Fireworks Competition 2007!!

Aaaaw!!!! Guess what, it's the fireworks and all the pyrotechnic arts!!! My all time favourite and I can't believe that we're having it this year, in Putrajaya itself! My heart's racing and I've never failed to have the adrenaline rush each time I came across a fireworks performance. What's more it's an international fireworks competition! It's gotta be an awesomely spectacular and breathtaking event! And it's gotta be exciting!!! Hohoho.

Cheers to Malaysia's 50th year of Nationhood! I certainly need to be home to watch this one golden celebration (well, I mean the fireworks bit. Keke).

Some information for all who're interested in this event:

Malaysia International Fireworks Competition 2007 Putrajaya International Convention Centre (at the lakeside) will be the venue for the 1st Malaysia International Fireworks Competition. The magnificent view across the lake overlooked by the grand Seri Gemilang bridge will be the main focus for two weeks. From 18 August 2007 till 2 September 2007, Nations from Australia, Japan, Italy and Malaysia will be competing for the Merdeka trophy.

For two weeks in August, the skies over Putrajaya are to be lit up by a sequence of firework performances to celebrate Malaysia's 50th year of Nationhood. The Malaysia International Fireworks Competition, or MIFC, will be a festival of light, music, colour and culture; providing magical experiences for all that attend in the lead-up to Malaysia's Merdeka Day, Hari Merdeka.

During MIFC, renowned international firework teams from around the world will gather in Malaysia to compete in one of the world's greatest Musical Fireworks Competitions. Regular fireworks displays will be dwarfed by the pyrotechnic artistry at Putrajaya. The shows will be meticulously choreographed to music; the senses will be thrilled by dazzling incandescent displays that will dance to inspirational compositions.

For at least twenty minutes on each competitive night, the maestros of the night will amaze spectators with breathtaking presentations, judged by a panel of celebrities, who will select a winner. The victorious team will receive a prestigious award but their ultimate trophy is the audience delight!

The schedule as follows:

Provisional Programme
7.00pm - Radio Global - International DJ's blast away the cobwebs and set the mood Global Funworld Opens
Exciting Rides
Fun Food and Drinks
Family Fun and Excitement

10.00pm - Malaysia International Fireworks Competition Build up -

Argh, I'll have to miss the 18th to 22nd's ones. Darn!

Read here for more information.

Gotta now decide whether to buy ticket (Oh yes, ticket's on sale now) to watch the event or to just go there and try my luck to look for the best spot. Anyone has an idea on the best spot?

The Maasai Tribe and their walking stride

Never really give a thought to how walking (and I mean the correct way of walking) can be so beneficial to one's health till I saw this little note from the TV today.

Other than giving toned, lengthened body with improved posture and less skeletal problems, the Maasai's walking stride is said to have been one of the reasons why the tribe suffer almost no heart diseaes, diabetes and their cholestrol level is one third lower than the average of the Americans, despite their diet is almost exclusively milk and meat (with high content of fats and cholesterol). Btw, the Maasia tribe are a semi nomadic people who walk long distances on a regular basis (at least 100,000 steps a day), it is an interesting question to ask, why and how then they suffer only very few back and joint complaints (and they have no cellulite too! Hmph!), which people nowadays will when we've walked a bit too much.

Apparently, instead of landing on one point of our foot (which most of us do), the Massais have the pressure distributing equally along and across the whole foot when walking, and the show continues to elaborate the biomechanics of walking and standing and the effect of it to the upright posture and gait of the Masai, and their heart, diabetes status. Also, according to the show and some research done, such walking has successfully shown to reduce the weight and cholesterol level in 3 weeks time. They have also shown the difference in the ratio of fats broken down with running and walking, and to my surprise, running doesn't break down the fats and walking does. The reduction ain't massive, but certainly positive in such a short period of time. Which is then an implication of being able to reduce others related health problems in long runs.

Now I know why I feel a lot more healthier when I was in Melbourne than now, where walking was one of my chore to save on transportation everyday. =p As if. Maybe true.

Lets do more walking now!

Nose to the air-cond

Do you know what do I feel like doin now?

Yea. To have my nose stuck to the air-cond, and let the air-cond 'blow-freeze' it.

It didn't work!

Darn it!

The so called secret recipe lime juice didn't work! Not even with the 'three legs cooling water' brought by Charis (appreciate that though, =)) , which is supposed to help/prevent the symptoms from getting worse. Hmm, maybe they antagonise each other, hence no effect.

It's as if my nose is doin all the talking today! Arghhhh!

And I'm sooooo sleeeepy! White cells, please do something!

It's comin! Darn!

It's coming! I can feel it. Throat is a bit sore now, and sneezing bug is ready in action.

Grrr.

I will try the lemon lime drink from that fruit stall at staff canteen. It's their secret recipe for treating sore throat, according to the uncle. Heh. Lets see the magic of it tomorrow.

Cold. Go away!

Unintentionally?

Unintentionally or subconsciously or perhaps it's the opposite (but, hell care!), I've been paying a lil bit more attention to Sarawak-related-issues, or even person, which I know I wouldn't have been if it's in the past.

Cause and effect! Awesome!

Inspiring statement

It's not necessary to get OVER things, what's more important is that to get THROUGH it and move on.

TV series can be inspiring too!

Finally...

It's not too hard to do it afterall...=)

I've finally made my decision to tender my resignation today, and did it in a pleasant way. After all the hesitation, thinking and planning. It's not too easy when you've a good boss who is always taking care of you.

Anyways, at least this part is settled. All I've to concentrate on from now is my offer letter from the uni, then the visa application, then the flight booking, then the settling down in the UK...etc.

One step at a time. Everything seems to be falling into place now...and am back on track.

Gambate Ne!

Nat's Story

Have been following on Nat's case, which has recently caused a stir, a big stir in the blogsphere. Read here raw from Nat himself on his four days of detention under the OSA.

The one and only thing I could say is that, I resolutely salute this young man for his courage.

So, what's the next big thing to happen in Malaysia today? Islamic state vs Secular state? Sighh...

It feels sooooo good!

I'm very happy tonite....Kekeke.

Haven't laughed like this for a while, and it feels soooo good to be able to. =)))

Thank you so much, Chou Mun Mun, =p, for bringing so much laughter to the dinner tonight. You're truly a great great friend!

The sky is sooo clear, and my heart feels sooo light. All I want is to laugh out loud again!

Hohoho, Hehehe, Hahaha, Kakaka, Kekeke!

It is THE END

I'll be good, from now on.

To have all the memories of you buried at one unseen corner. Sealed.

No more hesitation. For this will be the best for myself.

Pain, will go away,
And I'll be smiling,
With an open heart.

It is the end of grief and sorrow, and a beginning of a new chapter.

Pain

Pain, please go away,
And let me smile for just one day,
For broken heart is all I have.

Her Eyes...is like yours

Her watery eyes and redden nose, unintentionally caught my attention. She looked so upset.

She has your eyes. Your cute puppy eyes. Round and beautiful.

Her mum was just beside her, talking on the phone.

'She's nuts, keeps on crying', says the mum
'No, I didn't cry', the little girl trying to defend herself, sobbing still

My heart was stirred. My eyes were as watery as hers now. I realised I couldnt take my eyes off her. Off her eyes. All I had in mind was you!

Sigh. Would I ever look into your eyes again?

Dream, my dream of you...

It's a sweeet dream. Only a dream.

We're in each other's arms, and you said, 'I ain't giving up on you'.
With tears, I'm in smile, all smile.
You're sleeeping like a baby,
Looking at your sweet face,
Your most beautiful eyes that I can never resist,
I finally find peace.

It feels soo real,
The hugs and cuddles,
The smell of you,
The warmth of your body,
The beating of your heart,
It's calling me not to let go.

And it's all just a dream.

Breaking down

Breaking down.

Heart's pounding, head's throbbing, and tears have never stop rolling down my cheeks;

My heart, is dying. Slowly. Of unknown reasons, reasons that cannot be identified for it has been too many. I'm chained, in my own corner.

Tell me, please. That the very dim light at the end of the road is still there.

Egocentrism

Egocentrism. Only loneliness and sorrow, that it leads one to...

What is it?

Question: What organism/animal can produce sound; in the morning, it has four 'legs'; in the afternoon, two 'legs'; and at night, it has three 'legs'?

This question is posted in one of the book that I was reading. Simple as it may seem to some people, but shame to say, I've no clue at all, even after a long thought.

What's your guess?

Companion

Gathering and catching up with friends, with all the jokes, craps and occasionally inspiring conversations have been great and enjoyable, but, why, the loneliness felt after was so horrendous.

Is this a natural human behaviour? Like the cells, they grow much better and healthier when they are close to each other, and slowly dying when otherwise.

Companion.

To Change

You can correct others.

But, the only person you can change, is yourself.

How easy is that?!

My Love Will Get You Home

My Love Will Get You Home - Christine Glass

If you wander off too far, my love will get you home.
If you follow the wrong star, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If the bright lights blind your eyes, my love will get you home.
If your troubles break your stride, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

If you ever feel ashame, my love will get you home.
When there's only you to blame, my love will get you home.
If you ever find yourself, lost and all alone,
get back on your feet and think of me, my love will get you home.
Boy, my love will get you home.

Another song that I've been playing repeatedly lately. Very simple tune, but certainly heartwarming!

Love, will be bring me home.

I'm longing for that. To be home.

Weekends, it's not the same anymore

Weekends are no longer as enjoyable. Why am I still missing you, terribly! Some say shopping is a good healing therapy, but the truth is, the guys boutique, shirts, ties, wallet, sports stuff, all of them, in a spontaneous and reflex manner, remind me only of you.

Maybe I just shouldn't enter shops selling guys stuff. Grrrrr.

Sigh...It's seriously killing me inside...and you can never imagine how it feels like.

Singapore's longer-term worry is talent: SM Goh

Singapore's longer-term worry is talent: SM Goh.

So, my worry will be where do we go from here? It’s a longer-term worry. It’s not a short-term worry. It comes back to my point about talent. For Singapore to grow, you need talent, talent from Singaporeans or within Singapore and talent from outside."

When I saw this title on Channelnewasia, the first thing that came to mind was: What is our Malaysian government doing? Have they ever thought bout this? Most of all, is this even A CONCERN to them?

The superiority mindset of the politicians! With their own ways of 'moving' the country foward!

Words

There are simply too many things that can't be express in words, in language. Like how I'm feeling now. Thoughts are running wild, why am I not able to convey it across? And it is especially harder when it's to express emotional meaning.

Words, often fail me.

Or maybe, I fail words.

Dengue Fever

Was having a discussion with a friend on the symptoms of Dengue fever. And not to my surprise, none of us know much about dengue. Is ignorant really a bliss?! =p

Friend's a bit unwell and just a couple of days ago, Dengue cases in Singapore have reached 'epidemic' levels. 381 cases were reported between June 24 and 30, above the 'epidemic threshold' of 378 cases per week. (See Channelnewsasia for more details on the cases in Singapore.)

Notes on Dengue:
1) Vector - Aedes Aegypti. They prefer to rest indoors and feed on humans during daylight hours.

2) There are currently four strains of dengue virus being identified. After disease, specific immunity is produced to the infecting strain of dengue virus, however, infection with the other strains of dengue virus is still possible. Studies show that infection with and subsequent immunization from one dengue serotype actually increases the odds of developing dengue hemorrhagic fever during infection with a second serotype. Same goes with Co-infection with one of the other dengue virus.
p/s: I guess I'll have to be extra careful now.

2) Dengue fever usually starts suddenly with a high fever, rash, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, and muscle and joint pain. Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and diarrhea are common too.

3) A rash usually appears 3 to 4 days after the start of the fever. The illness can last up to 10 days, but complete recovery can take as long as a month. Older children and adults are usually sicker than young children.

4) Most dengue infections result in relatively mild illness, but some can progress to dengue hemorrhagic fever. With dengue hemorrhagic fever, the blood vessels start to leak and cause bleeding from the nose, mouth, and gums. Bruising can be a sign of bleeding inside the body. Without prompt treatment, the blood vessels can collapse, causing shock (dengue shock syndrome).

5) Mechanism --For Hemorrhagic Variant. The hemorrhagic dengue variant seems to be able to replicate in the human body only in macrophages. It is possible that the virus-antibody interactions actually help hemorrhagic viral replication by promoting cell infection. This is via specific macrophage receptors--the Fc portion of the antibody molecule, or possibly via a protease-sensitive receptor. Apparently, the antibodies attach to the virus's outer envelope, then signal the larger macrophages. When a macrophage responds to the antibody signal and arrives on the viral scene, it engulfs the virus. However, the virus then takes control of the macrophage and replicates inside the macrophage instead of being destroyed by it. The virus is then carried throughout the body via the macrophage transports. Physical reactions triggered by this involvement of the immune system include fevers from 104-107 F, convulsions, shock, and death. Read here for more information.

6) Diagnosis is made by blood test for the presence of the virus or antibodies, or by serologic testing. Lab results may indicate that fibrinogen and clotting factors V, VII, IX, and X are reduced.

Have been a bit paranoid lately too especially when got bitten by the mosquitoes. I can see that I'm goin through the transition from 'whatever' attitude to 'be alert with what's goin on'. Is it an 'age' thingy? Hmm.

Anyways, to be aware of things is better than not. =)

Within and Without

Within you I lose myself, without you I find myself wanting to be lost again.

Love

There are so many things I love about you
I love your childlike quality,
Your sense of wonder,
Your enthusiasm for life and love
I love the way you understand me
Better, than anyone I’ve ever known.
The way you’re always thinking of things to make me happy
I love the fun we have together
The way you can always make me laugh
Just when I need it most
And I love the way I am when I’m with you
I see things more clearly
Through your eyes and your touch
Makes me feel everything more deeply
I love discovering the inner you
That other people never see
And the more I discover, the more I find to love
I love you simply because you are you
That’s why I know for the rest of my life I will always be in love with only you

All that are left now is just silence...And I'm lost, again.

The most memorable wedding

Two days of the wedding celebration for Siew Mei and Hong Kiat, there's only one word to describe it. FABULOUS! And you guys looked stunningly beautiful!!

It's the most touching and sweet and heartfelt wedding that I've ever attended. I was truly touched by the whole process, from the groom going to the bride's place, the tricks that we had for the groom, the tea ceremony, till the reception the next day, every single moment was filled with love and blessing. And, I was emotionally engaged!

It is a wedding day that will be remembered
For all the joy it brings
A day of love and happiness
Of vows and wedding rings
A day of new beginnings
Learning what love truly means
