Nat's Story

Have been following on Nat's case, which has recently caused a stir, a big stir in the blogsphere. Read here raw from Nat himself on his four days of detention under the OSA.

The one and only thing I could say is that, I resolutely salute this young man for his courage.

So, what's the next big thing to happen in Malaysia today? Islamic state vs Secular state? Sighh...

Its not easy to NOT notice it, when our Deputy Prime Minister has announced it sooo OUTLOUD.

Mind-boggling statement. So what if he wants the country to be islamic? Malaysia is still going towards the path of hell. And it could have been quicker.

The Islamic state declaration was made by Tun himself when he was the PM in 2001. We have yet to receive any affirmation that Malaysia is a secular state, and judging from Najib's 717 declaration, judicial decisions on matrimonial breakdowns, problems arising from conversion in/out of Islam etc, I would like to opine that Malaysia is indeed an Islamic state; the surface shown to the world at large that Malaysia is a secular state (Article 11, Vision 2020, Rukunegara, multi racial society, multi religion society etc) is merely a facade.

Have a read at this link : http://harismibrahim.wordpress.com/2007/07/17/najib-bring-forth-your-proof/

And another interesting note was that, yes, Malaysia indeed was declared an islamic state in 2001 by Tun, when Umno which he led suffered its worst general election defeat and he conceived this unilateral, arbitrary and unconstitutional declaration as a major gambit to fend off the PAS challenge to the Malay heartland.

Any which way, it looks more like some political pawns to me.
