Investing in the FUTURE?!!

This is simply soo my-goodness-interesting!!! RM1.1billion for motivational courses for the students?!!! That's hell lot of money to feed the 'party-of-interest'! Our government seriously is loaded with money and has no better way to spend it! Sigh. Not that I'm against motivational courses, and not that I know how the government came up with such a budget (whether or not the sum has a valid basis), it's in anyway just too surprising to see billions of dollars for MOTIVATIONAL course? If' that's what they think can fix the current education system, well, lets bless us all!

Motivational courses to me act no more than a reaction that is very time dependent. I would rather the government uses the money to introduce more practical modules (be it compulsary or optional) into the syllabus, for instance the very basic microsoft office or the sort (I've met quite a handful of people who do not know how to use excel, and I'm talking about very basic excel here, and they're all graduates from university!), writing and thinking skills, and perhaps courses that involved extensive communications and interactions. These are the skills that will be carried with the students always. Early exposure, if permitted is certainly better than later. I always believe a condusive environment is critical for personal or professional development as humans are the product of the society and environment.

PETALING JAYA: The Government has allocated RM1.1bil for motivational courses for students in all parliamentary constituencies in the country, Deputy Information Min-ister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the money would be channelled through the Information Ministry's Special Affairs Depart-ment.
“Umno, as the leading party in Government, is also concerned about students' development as they are the country's future,” he said after closing a motivational course for children of Subang Umno members here yesterday. – Bernama

this is plain bullshit. it's just anor way of channeling the money out of the govt coffers into individual pockets. after this announcement, u wont get to hear any more of such motivational courses or advertisement for it.

even if there is, the cost of organising it will be much lower than expected.
